How the credit works

Alberta gives most of it back.

Donations to a registered Alberta political party earn a provincial tax credit on a sliding scale. The first $200 is the most generous — 75 cents back on every dollar.

75% of the first $200

Give $200 and $150 comes straight back as a tax credit. Your real cost is just $50.

50% & 33⅓% above that

The next $900 earns 50% back, and the next $1,200 earns 33⅓% — so larger gifts still go further.

Up to $1,000 a year

The maximum annual credit of $1,000 is reached at $2,300 in total contributions to Alberta parties.

Figures reflect Alberta’s provincial political contribution tax credit (Elections Alberta): 75% of the first $200, 50% of the next $900, and 33⅓% of the next $1,200, to a maximum $1,000 credit at $2,300 in contributions.
